Reskimming Services in Fraserburgh & Aberdeenshire
If your walls or ceilings are covered in old textured finishes, damaged by years of decorating or simply looking tired, reskimming can completely transform a room without the need for major building work.
At Mack & Trowel Plastering, we apply a fresh coat of finishing plaster over existing surfaces to create a smooth, modern finish ready for painting or decorating. Whether it's a single room or a full property renovation, we take the time to prepare every surface properly to achieve a high quality finish.
Is Reskimming Right For Your Property?
Reskimming is commonly used for:
• Old plaster that's still sound but uneven
• Previously painted walls
• Hairline cracking
• Poor previous plastering
• Minor surface damage
• Rooms being modernised
• Covering light texture
Every Job Starts With An Inspection
Not every wall should simply be skimmed over.
Before any work begins we inspect the existing plaster to determine whether it is solid enough to receive a new finish. If there are signs of movement, blown plaster or underlying damage we'll recommend the correct repair before skimming begins.
Taking shortcuts here usually leads to future problems, so we believe it's always worth doing things properly.
Our Reskimming Process
• Protect floors and surrounding areas
• Inspect existing plaster
• Remove loose material
• Repair cracks where required
• Apply suitable bonding agent
• Install beads if necessary
• Apply two coat skim finish
• Finish smooth ready for decoration
The Finished Result
Once complete you'll be left with smooth flat walls and ceilings ready to decorate once fully dry.
Our aim isn't simply to cover imperfections, it's to produce a finish that completely transforms the room.
